Outstanding Young Violinist Thomas Hofmann
Thomas Hofmann was born in Tokyo, Japan, and
began his
violin studies at the age of two. He has won many competitions in
Japan,
including the Kumanichi state competition. After his move to
United States, he
continued his studies with Ms. Sharan Leventhal at The Boston
Conservatory,
where he currently pursues his Ph.D. degree in violin performance.
Thomas is an
avid chamber musician. He has performed with many chamber groups
in Greater
Boston Area. He has won the Boston Conservatory Chamber Honors
competition for
three consecutive years, and has performed at the Bowdoin
International
Festival in the Summer of 2011. Mr. Hofmann also pursues a career
in solo
violin, recently winning prizes in competitions such as the ASTA
string
competition and Boston Conservatory String Honors competition.
Thomas also
plays an active role in the Orchestral scene in Boston, serving as
the principal
violinist of the Dorchester Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Chamber
Orchestra,
and the Boston Conservatory Orchestra.
